The T draws Ss attention to the table at the bottom of the page – “I’d like you to focus on the table at the bottom of a page. I’d like one of you to read the sentences aloud.” – the T chooses a student to read the sentences.
– “ The meaning of those sentences is the same – we want somebody to give us money and then we will give back the money. And the problem is that in Polish we have only one word ‘pożyczać’ and in English there are two words: ‘borrow’ and ‘lend’. I’d like you to write down a note: We borrow something FROM somebody – meaning pożyczyć coś od kogoś. And we lend somebody something OR we lend something to somebody – meaning pożyczać coś komuś. And examples:
1) I borrowed books from library.
2)Friend lent me his pen. or Friend lent his pen to me.
3) I borrowed money from my mum. = My mum lent me some money. – The T writes the examples on the board.
